Liquid Penetrant Testing

Liquid penetrant testing is a non-destructive material testing method widely applied in various industries. During the test, a special penetrant fluid is applied to the surface, which seeps into surface-open discontinuities such as cracks or pores. The excess dye is then removed, and a developer is applied that draws the penetrant out of the discontinuities, making them visible.

This test helps detect material defects such as cracks, pores or other surface-open flaws. Its advantage is that it is extremely sensitive to minor defects and can also reveal hidden flaws; furthermore, it can be used across a wide range of structural materials. Its application enables greater safety and reliability for structural materials or devices.

Liquid penetrant testing is widely used in the aerospace, automotive and defence industries, as well as in other sectors where material defects may pose a hazard or compromise structural integrity. The method provides a simple and cost-effective way to detect defects that are not always visible to the naked eye.

Liquid penetrant testing is also an indispensable part of quality assurance and quality control processes across various industries. The test can be performed by appropriately trained specialists, and the results can be reliably interpreted. The available testing agents are suited to different application requirements, enabling customised testing solutions.
