Bently Nevada ADRE 408 Rotor Dynamics and Machinery Diagnostics Assessment
Maintaining the operational reliability of high-value rotating machinery requires a thorough understanding of its dynamic behaviour.
The Bently Nevada ADRE 408 is a professional data acquisition and diagnostic system that enables detailed condition assessment of turbines, turbo-compressors, generators, high-capacity centrifugal pumps and other critical rotating equipment during normal operation, as well as throughout startup and shutdown processes.
The ADRE system is primarily recommended for critical rotating machinery where rotor dynamic behaviour, vibration characteristics and operational stability are of paramount importance.
During the measurement and evaluation process, advanced rotor dynamics analyses can be performed using Orbit, Bode, Polar, Nyquist, Cascade (Waterfall) and Centerline plots, among others. These analyses enable the identification of:
- Unbalance – displacement between the principal inertia axis and the axis of rotation, resulting in increased vibration.
- Misalignment – inaccurate alignment of couplings, shafts or machine components.
- Mechanical Looseness – instability caused by foundation, bolting or structural deficiencies.
- Resonance and Critical Speeds – identification of operating ranges in which the machine’s natural frequency is excited.
- Rotor-Bearing System Instability – abnormal dynamic behaviour of the rotor system.
- Oil Whirl and Oil Whip Phenomena – dynamic instabilities occurring in fluid-film bearing applications.
- Rotor-to-Stator Contact (Rub) – damaging vibration phenomena caused by frictional contact between rotating and stationary components.
- Shaft Bow and Rotor Deformations – conditions that may occur during startup or at operating temperature.
- Structural and Foundation Deficiencies – insufficient stiffness, cracks or dynamic weaknesses within the machine structure.
- Dynamic Abnormalities Caused by Changes in Operating Conditions – particularly during startup and shutdown processes.
Based on the investigation results, we prepare a detailed expert assessment together with recommendations for the necessary maintenance, repair or operational actions.
